Netflix Releases Teaser Trailer For ‘Nimona’

Stuck in a tangled mess of development, the film adaptation of Nimona is finally on the horizon, with Netflix releasing teaser trailer for it. What started as a thesis project in art school, and blossomed into a web comic turned graphic novel, author ND Stevenson’s Nimona follows a young shapeshifter by the name of Nimona, serving as a sidekick to the nefarious Lord Blackheart. They have a goal to chop some well-loved heroes down to size, but through a course of actions, Blackheart comes to find out that Nimona herself may become more dangerous than even that which they have planned.

As stated, the film was stuck in a sort of developmental hell for a few years. Originally, it was helmed under Blue Sky studios, but Disney shuttered the company back in 2021, leading to the film’s cancellation. Comicbook.com reported that the film was roughly 75% done, but needed another 10 months of production for it to be considered finished.

In 2022, however, Netflix picked up the film, giving it the time it needed for completion, and is ready to turn it out to the public. You can watch the trailer here:

The creator and author himself is ecstatic, to say the least, about the film’s last minute save by Netflix, saying that he was “excited out of his mind” to announce the movie’s official release. Nimona is set to release on Netflix on June 30th, and will star Chloë Grace Moretz and Riz Ahmed.
