A movie reboot of Stephen King’s novel Cujo is in the works. Cujo is a psychological horror novel about a mother and son trapped in a car as they fend off a rabid dog. The original film adaptation, from 1983, stars Dee Wallace as the mother, Donna, and Danny Pintauro as the son, Tad. This original adaptation of Cujo currently sits at a critic score of 60% on the website Rotten Tomatoes and has a score of 6.1/10 stars on IMDB.
The new reboot of Cujo is being produced by Roy Lee, who also produced films like It, Barbarian, and, most recently, Companion. With such a positive track record of horror, including other Stephen King adaptations (It), Expectations are high for this reboot of Cujo.
Stephen King’s novels have garnered a lot of attention from Hollywood, with many movie adaptations as proof. The Shining, The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Stand by Me, Carrie, It and the sequel It Chapter Two are just a few of the film adaptations out there, and some of these titles have multiple renditions, such as Carrie, which has three different movies to date, all based on the original novel and one sequel, although not based on a book.
The reboot of Cujo is being made under Netflix. If you like creature features, Stephen King, or even just horror in general, this will definitely be something to keep your eye on.
