According to Stereo Gum, Kanye West, rapper, Yeezy creator, fashion guru, pastor, and recent divorcee of Kim Kardashian will be the subject of a documentary that Neftlix paid $30 million to begin making. The documentary doesn’t have a title yet, but the multi-episode series has taken 21 years to make, and is said to include a lot of home videos and never before seen footage.
The documentary will be helmed by music video producers Clarence “Coodie” Simmons and Chike Ozah, who both worked with Kanye on his music videos for the songs Through the Wire and Jesus Walks (Version 30). The film is said to have a deeper look into West’s life, with a behind-the-scenes look at his career in music and fashion. The documentary will also focus heavily on his mother Donda West’s death and his failed 2020 presidential campaign. It is under wraps how much the series will discuss West’s struggleds with bipolar disorder, or his recent split with his wife of six years, Kim Kardashian.
It is unclear how much Kanye is creatively involved with the project, but it is stated that he has helped heavily by giving the filmmakers access over the years. Their Creative Control company will co-produce the series with TIME Studios.
