When The Witcher, a series based off of the book franchise by Polish writer Andrzej Sapkowski was first released on Netflix in 2019, it was an instant hit. Due to the book and show’s committed fanbase, the streaming service announced a prequel film in January called The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.
According to Comicbook, the upcoming anime film will center on the witcher known as Vesemir. It will explore Vesemir’s past, beginning with his childhood and his introduction to the witcher profession. It is currently unknown who will play the old witcher, but it is rumored that actor Theo James may play Vesemir, as he did for a brief, faceless appearance in season 1. Details of the film have been under wraps, until now, as Netflix recently debuted the official logo. The logo showcases a wolf mask against a pitch black screen, while dark mysterious music is playing in the background. The sterling mask vanishes as text appears on screen with the anime title.
The entire logo then loops for a few seconds before going black. The logo might not reveal too much of the plot of the film, but it excited fans as this is the most they’ve gotten since the prequel was announced. Beau DeMayo is writing the film and Netflix is producing with the South Korean animation company, Studio Mir (The Legend of Korra, Voltron: Legendary Defenders). The film is set to hit screens in 2021.
