Neon Releases Official Trailer For Spain’s Academy Awards Entry, ‘Sirāt’

Neon has released the official trailer for Sirāt, Spain’s submission for Best International Feature Film at this year’s Academy Awards.

The trailer opens with a desperate father (Sergi López) searching for his missing daughter. He asks attendees at a remote rave in the Moroccan desert if they’ve seen her as she’s been missing for five months. Accompanied by his young son, he is ultimately directed toward another rave in the desert.

“I don’t think you understand what you’re getting into,” one attendee warns the father as his trip becomes more dangerous. The trailer escalates into a journey that features military vehicles, treacherous terrain, and the extreme climate conditions of the desert.

Directed by Oliver Laxe, Sirāt was awarded the Jury Prize at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. The film has also earned Golden Globe nominations for Best Motion Picture — Non-English Language and Best Original Score.

Laxe co-wrote the screenplay with Santiago Fillol. Additional cast members include Bruno Núñez, Richard Bellamy, Joshua Liam Henderson, Stefania Gadda, Tonin Janvier, and Jade Oukid. The film currently holds a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and has received strong critical acclaim.

Sirāt opens in Los Angeles and New York on February 6, followed by a nationwide release later in February.
