The director of the abandoned Alien 5 project has revealed a xenomorph sculpture that would have likely appeared in the sacked sequel, according to Screenrant. Although Blomkamp has stated that he has moved on from the idea of making an Alien 5 sequel, he has publicized several bits and pieces of concept art of the desired project. The xenomorph sculpt photo (below) was posted onto Blomkamp’s Instagram and appears to still carry many of the same H.R. Giger designs traits save one – an extra set of arms.
With several ideas not seeing completion over the years, it is no surprise that Blomkamp’s idea for the fifth Alien film was abandoned. Much of the plot details have been suppressed, but based on a concept drawing (below), Alien 5 would have reunited Ripley, Hicks, and Newt from the early Alien sequel, Aliens. This film would follow the trend in Hollywood at the moment to disregard all sequels that do not relate well to the newest project. This would mean that Aliens 3 and 4 would have not existed in the world created by the new project.
Along with Blomkamp’s forsaken Alien film, it appears that Ridley Scott’s third Alien prequel has also been quashed. The financial setback seen from Alien: Covenant has sealed the prequel franchise’s fate. That said, not all is lost for the Alien series. There are still rumors suggesting a possible Alien television show that would hopefully be the next step for the succession of the films.
