Naomi Watts looks to be officially starring in new psychological thriller titled The Wolf Hour. She will be playing a character by the name of June Leigh, according to Deadline. Watts is a fairly renowned actress, known for her roles in various films including King Kong, Mulholland Drive, and The Impossible. She most recently starred in a film titled The Book of Henry and the reboot of Twin Peaks.
Watts’ character in The Wolf Hour, Leigh, reached celebrity status thanks to her important advocacy for social change during the 1960’s. However, it doesn’t last forever, and she soon must deal with a unseen predator whose presence takes an immense toll on her. Coupled with the rise of David Berkowitz’s (also known as the “Son of Sam”) murders and the chaotic New York climate, Leigh must endure a terrifying and stressful time.
The film is being directed and written by Alistair Banks Griffin, who has not directed in the seven years since his film festival release Two Gates of Sleep. It will be interesting to see if he can bounce back from the fairly mediocre scores the film has received. The film is being supported by the Sundance Institute Feature Film Program, which has provided support to amazing films including Whiplash and Beasts of the Southern Wild. The film will begin production in New York this fall.
