Kristin Scott Thomas’ feature directional debut stars Scarlett Johansson and others in My Mother’s Wedding. Thomas’ film will include BAFTA and Golden Globe nominee Sienna Miller (American Sniper, Anatomy of a Scandal), SAG ensemble winner Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionare, Rise of the Planet of the Apes), and Cannes Film Festival Best Actress Emily Beecham (Cruella, Little Joe).
The plot and details of the film are kept under wraps at the moment, but John Michlethwait was brought on to help Thomas write the script. Producers for the film are Finola Dwyer and Steven Rales.
It was rumored that Thomas’ directorial debut was going to be The Sea Change, based on the Elizabeth Jane Howard’s novel with the same, but it has not come to fruition.
In 2013 Miller snatched a Best Actress in TV Miniseries/Movie Godlen Globe nomination along with a Best Leading Actress BAFTA nomination for HBO’s The Girl, where she played Tippi Hedren. This was not her first BAFTA nomination, in 2008 she was nominated in the Rising Star category. Miller’s career has been kicking off since 2006 in Edie Sedgwick’s Factory Girl and has been in other big projects such as: G.I Joe: The Rise of Cobra; Foxcatcher; The Lost City of Z; Live by Night; The Catcher Was a Spy and 21 Bridges.
