‘Muppets Most Wanted’ In Theaters March 21

The follow up to the 2011 commercially successful The Muppets, which starred Jason Segal, Amy Adams, and Chris Cooper (grossing over $165 million worldwide), Muppets Most Wanted is coming to theaters this March 21. The Disney trailer promoting the sequel touts Muppets Most Wanted (somewhat tongue in cheek) as “Quite possibly the greatest motion picture of all time” and has fans anxiously awaiting the sequel.

James Bobbin is  directing again, and has co-written the script with help from Nicholas Stoller (Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Get Him To The Geek) from an original story by Muppet master Jim Henson. The story takes the Muppets on a tour of Europe’s hot spots, with Berlin, London and Madrid on the agenda. The merriment is interrupted when a doppleganger for Kermit the Frog pulls a major bank heist that lands Kermit in jail. Ricky Gervais (The Office) plays the antagonist while Tina Fey (Date Night) is a feisty prison guard and Ty Burrell (Modern Family) plays an Interpol agent. There are plenty of big name cameos including: PDiddy, Celine Dion, Ray Liotta, Christopher Waltz, Danny Trejo and Salma Hayek.

The music is by Bret McKenzie, who was the music supervisor for the 2011 film and won an Oscar for Best Song for “Man or Muppet.” He is known for being one-half of the Grammy Award winning musical comedy duo Flight of the Conchords.  The soundtrack for Muppets Most Wanted includes a rendition of Maroon 5’s ‘Moves Like Jagger’ and a number with PDiddy.

David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman are producing again with Disney Studios and The Muppets Studio.
