Oscar-nominated director Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan) offered a unique Mother’s Day offering on Twitter this morning, teasing his new mystery mother! The tightly-lipped mystery comes complete with a top-tier cast that includes Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Michelle Pfeiffer and Ed Harris. What dropped was a particularly “heart-wrenching” poster for the film hitting theaters this fall.
The artwork – featuring an ethereal, painted Lawrence with a literal heart presented like a bouquet of flowers – fits rather well within Aronofsky’s filmography, considering Pi, Requiem for a Dream and Black Swan.
What’s known of the plot is but a bare thread – a couple is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home. Aronofsky penned the script as well. Domhnall Gleeson and Kristen Wiig co-star. mother! hits theaters on October 13th.
