Yep, That’s Paul McCartney in ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales’

The Beatles legend Paul McCartney took to Twitter to share the first image of himself in the forthcoming Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Appropriately pirate-like, though far from recognizable, the music icon joins the fifth installment in Disney’s venerable franchise alongside frontman Johnny Depp (returning to his iconic Jack Sparrow creation; remember when the actor earned an unexpected Oscar nomination for the first film 14 years ago?)

Take a look at the character poster below:

Notably, McCartney isn’t the first musical icon to join the Pirates fray – Keith Richards memorably came aboard to portray Sparrow’s father in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End (2007) and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011).

In Dead Man Tell No Tales, Sparrow goes on a quest for the trident of Poseidon. For this outing, Depp returns to franchise alongside stalwarts Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley and Geoffrey Rush. Oscar winner Javier Barden and rising actors Kaya Scodelario (The Maze Runner) and Brenton Thwaites (The Giver) join in on the fun as well. Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, the filmmakers behind the Oscar-nominated Kon-Tiki, took over directing duties.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales hits theaters on May 26th.
