With the new year around the corner a new slate of movies will be hitting theaters. From January to December 2025 has just about a film for everyone to see. Between sequels, remakes, and original pictures the year will ne one to remember.
January – Wolfman
For January the Wolfman from Blumhouse is set to attract the most attention, out of a rather stacked plate of horror films. The first month of the year of 2025 is set to see some kills and thrills with the VFX spectacle of the Wolfman’s gorey transformations and titular creature. With a monster both in and out of the house, this is sure to be suspenseful. Directed and written by Leigh Whannell, with Corbett Tuck as an additional screen writer and staring Julia Garner, Christopher Abbott, and Sam Jaeger it is sure to be a worth while entry for the to-watch lists. Wolfman can be found in theaters come January 17th.
February – Captain America: Brave New World
From Marvel the fourth Captain America film is slated to land on February , with Anthony Mackie who has played Sam Wilson the Falcon for the MCU taking up the shield and flying off to be the new face of justice and the Avengers. After Avengers Endgame saw Chris Evans’s Captain America retire traveling back in time to live a life he always wanted leaving the shield for Falcon to take up. Brave New World’s trailers have revealed very little as to what the film will entitle for the new Captain America but the snippets of action and tense scenes of government agents hint at a return to form for the film with a more grounded plot of a nation in jeopardy as the Red Hulk played by Harrison Ford is set to be the foe for this battle. Directed by Julius Onah with Rosa Salazar and Liv Tyler. Brave New World hits the screen on February 14th.
March – Disney’s Snow-white
Staring Rachel Zelger as the fairest of them all and Gal Godot as the Evil Queen the long-awaited remake of the original full animated feature from Walt Disney himself is set to be 2025’s March premiere to see, with trailers showing massive expansion of the story with Zelger’s Snow-white playing a more active role in the story and entirely new song line up which is different from how Disney handled its remakes of Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty into Maleficent with both films simply taking on cinematic scores of their source’s music. With Snow-white’s massive changes and overhauls, it is clear the film will be a very different telling of the classic fairytale. Directed by Marc Webb with a script penned by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson using the Dorothy Ann Blank script from 1937 as the guide taking up the challenge. Snow White will be in theaters on March 21st.
April – Mickey 17
Seeing Robert Pattison go from a powerful and indomitable Batman to a very sympathetic man forced to be reborn over and over again for a dangerous job was not something a lot of people probably expected. Either way the film has captured a lot of attention for its intriguing and tragic premise yet upbeat and cheerful tone so it will likely be another stellar performance from Pattison so mark the time and which Mickey they’re on. From director Bong Joon Ho the legendary South Korean filmmaker who also penned the script adaptation based on the novel by Edward Ashton this is sure to be an interesting film. Pattison is joined by Toni Collette, Steven Yuen, and Mark Ruffalo. Mickey 17 will premiere on April 17th.
May – Thunderbolts*
For May Marvel has slated its next major entry for the MCU with Thunderbolts*, a supervillain team-up sent on a mission for the government, with Florence Pugh leading, joined by David Harbour and Sebastian Stan. The gritty group of mercenaries will set off on an adventure. The film is slated to premiere on May 2nd, with connections likely linking back to Brave New World in the larger scheme of the MCU’s narrative. Directed by Jake Schreier Thunderbolts* may be the first of many ventures into more focused films on the Marvel villains.
June- 28 Years Later.
Thankfully it did not take 28 years to make 28 Years Later the long anticipated sequel to 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later. This third entry for the series of revolutionizing zombie films will be one that demands to be seen with the film continuing its previous stylistic and dedicated efforts to preserve the immersion with 28 Years Later having been filmed on an Iphone 15 . Directed by Danny Boyle, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jodie Comer and Cillian Murphy, 28 Years Later is a film your going to want to catch in theaters now rather then later.
July – Superman
James Gunn’s Superman premiers July 11th, need there be more said. Well there is as the trailer has already broken records for DC studios and is set to be the superhero film for 2025. While the David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahanand led film is likely to be the cementing of Gunn’s legacy as a master of superhero films it is only the beginning as DC confirmed that this reboot for the DC cinematic universe will be followed by Supergirl in 2026. If you are going to see a superhero film in 2025 try to make it this one as it is sure to be the summer juggernaut as Gunn and the cast will go toe to toe with Marvel.
For the fall and winter releases not as much is known but it is sure more will be reveled as the year goes on with trailers and promotional campaigns.
August – Freakiest Friday
