Deadpool 3 production is well underway, with filming resuming after the strike. Fans have been receiving more and more news about star cameos from their favorite characters that will be featured in the new movie. Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine has already been confirmed, and a new star has been announced to be a part of the cast.
In an interview with Josh Wilding, Morena Baccarin spoke about her return as Vanessa in Deadpool 3. Rumors were circulating about the return of Baccarin’s character, but no definitive answer had been given on the question of Vanessa being in the movie. However, that question has now been answered, as Baccarin told Wilding, “It did work out! I finished my shooting days on it already. I think the film is now underway again after the strike, and I think it’s going to be quite good! Yeah, I think fans are in for a fun surprise.”
Baccarin also spoke about the accuracy of her portrayal of Copycat, laughing at Wilding’s question about whether she would dawn the iconic blue hue that Copycat is known for. Baccarin had this to say in response to the question, “I think yes, but, I think she’s also competing with a very large universe.”
Director Shawn Levy has also confirmed that Deadpool 3 will maintain the same “mature tone” the franchise is known for. In an interview with Wired, Levy said, “Not only have Kevin Feige and Marvel and Disney supported this extremely Deadpool-ian, audacious, R-rated tone, they’ve also supported our super meta, self-referential self-awareness.”
Fans have loudly expressed their excitement for the upcoming movie; however, much of that excitement has manifested in photos from the set posted on Instagram. With the increased number of online spoilers that have surfaced on the internet, Deadpool 3 star Ryan Reynolds spoke about his thoughts on the matter, “Surprises are part of the magic of theatrical movies. It’s important for us to shoot the new Deadpool film in real, natural environments, using practical effects as opposed to making the movie indoors and digitally. Telephoto lenses continue to spoil surprises and create a difficult situation for everyone.”
