‘Moonlight’ Star Trevante Rhodes to Join ‘The Predator’

On Thursday, it was reported that Moonlight star Trevante Rhodes will be joining the cast of 20th Century Fox’s reimagining of the Predator series.

Boyd Holbrook will play the lead, with Rhodes playing his best friend. Both are supposed to portray ex-Marines. The story finds the extraterrestrial warrior in a new environment than previous films: the suburbs. Along with Holbrook and Rhodes, Olivia Munn is also part of the cast.

Holbrook took over the part after Benicio Del Toro, who was originally cast as the lead role, had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts.

The film will be directed by Shane Black, who is most well-known for directing/writing Iron Man 3. Black also appeared as an actor in the original 1987 Predator as ‘Hawkins’, the first victim of the “Predator.” Given Black’s involvement with previous films, he has made it clear that this will be a sequel to the originals, and not just a remake.

Rhodes’ other recent projects include war drama Horse Soldiers, a Jerry Bruckheimer film which also stars Chris Hemsworth and Michael Pena, as well as the Tyler Perry tv series If Loving You Is Wrong on the OWN network.

No release date is set yet for The Predator.
