Filming for A Bad Moms Christmas, the sequel to last summer’s sleeper hit comedy Bad Moms, is already underway and it has finally been revealed who will portray the mother of the titular baddies played by the returning Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell and Kathryn Hahn. Oscar winner Susan Sarandon (The Meddler) has been cast as the mother of Hahn’s Carla, Emmy winner Christine Baranski (The Good Fight) is set as the mum of Kunis’ Amy with Cheryl Hines set as the mother of Bell’s Kiki. Makes the case for a memorable holiday indeed.
The film, which re-team the original’s writers-directors Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, focuses on the tensions that unravel with the holiday season. The official synopsis reads: “A Bad Moms Christmas follows the under-appreciated and over-burdened young moms as they rebel against the challenges and expectations of the Super Bowl for moms: Christmas. And if creating a more perfect holidays for their families wasn’t hard enough, they have to do all of that while hosting and entertaining their own mothers. By the end of the journey, our moms will redefine how to make the holidays special for all and discover a closer relationship with their mothers.”
Peter Gallagher, Jay Hernandez, David Walton, Wanda Sykes and This Is Us heartthrob Justin Hartley make up the ensemble cast.
The original film made was a bonafide sleeper hit last summer, where it earned over $100 million domestically and an additional $70 million overseas. STX Entertainment will unveil A Bad Moms Christmas on November 3rd.
