Mo Marable Set to Direct ‘Three Men And A Baby’ Reboot for Disney+

According to Deadline, Maurice “Mo” Marable is set to direct the upcoming remake of the 1987 film Three Men And A Baby for Disney+. Will Reichel penned the script, while Zac Efron is set to play one of the three men, unless Disney is going to digitally de-age him.

Marable has slowly been directing and producing a ton of television shows as of late. He was an executive producer and director on the Hulu series Woke in addition to directing sixteen episodes of the comedy series Brockmire. In 2017 he directed one of the funniest It’s Always Sunny episodes: Making Dennis Reynolds A Murderer. All in all, Marable’s career up to this point has been mostly television comedies, which is great for this remake. This will be Marable’s feature debut.

Three Men And A Baby was a huge success for Disney in the late 80’s, it starred Tom Selleck, Ted Danson, and Steve Guttenberg and is surprisingly directed by Leonard Nimoy. While good for the time, this remake will certainly have an uphill challenge in making the concept contemporary and fresh again. However, after the recent success of films like The Lego Movie and the Jump Street films which both revamp existing properties, certainly anything has the possibility of being innovative.

Three Men And A Baby still needs to find their other men as well as a baby, but the film is set for a 2022 release on Disney+.
