Tom Cruise stars in what is now the 7th Mission: Impossible installment, titled Dead Reckoning Part One. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film’s five-day debut is heading towards $78 million in North America. The source goes on to say that the movie appears to be the “second-best domestic opening of the franchise behind Mission: Impossible II, which posted a five-day debut of $78.5 million, not adjusted for inflation.”
The film released on July 12th, hoping for more sales before the release of the highly anticipated Oppenheimer and Barbie releases on July 21st.
Initially, the film was delayed in production due to COVID-19, where filming was shut down at least five times. The film is directed by Christopher McQuarrie, who had previously directed Fallout and Rogue Nation of the Mission: Impossible franchise. Likewise, alongside Cruise will star Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, and Vanessa Kirby.
