Miss Sloane, the gun lobbyist film starring Jessica Chastain, has been added to the AFI Fest line-up, according to Variety. The film will have its world premiere at the festival on November 11 before EuropaCorp releases the title on November 25 in theaters.
The film will be joining already announced films Jackie, La La Land, and the additional world premieres of The Comedian, starring Robert De Niro, and the Warren Beatty-directed Rules Don’t Apply, starring young Han Solo Alden Ehrenreich and Lily Collins.
Miss Sloane follows a lawyer with malleable ethics who leaves her conservative law firm to lobby against the gun industry on her own. Directed by John Madden (Shakespeare in Love), the film also stars Mark Strong (Kingsman: The Secret Service), John Lithgow (Shrek), Alison Pill (HBO’s The Newsroom), Jake Lacy (Obvious Child), Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Free State of Jones), and Sam Waterston (HBO’s The Newsroom).
This premiere will likely determine whether or not Chastain will enter the awards race for the third time (after The Help and Zero Dark Thirty) as many are already expecting. The Best Actress category is already a tight one with Natalie Portman (Jackie), Emma Stone (La La Land), and Annette Bening (20th Century Women) already being front runners. However, with Viola Davis reportedly entering the Supporting category for Fences, this may open up some room for Chastain and other actresses to make their mark.
