‘Minecraft’ Movie Announced for 2022 Release Date with Synopsis

Of all the major concepts to become a film, the hit video game Minecraft is next in line to be brought to the big screen. Discussions about a Minecraft film has been in the works since 2014 with Warner Bros, likely due to the success of The LEGO Movie. This past January, the film was officially announced in development with Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist director, Peter Sollett attached to direct, and recently more information was release regarding the film on Minecraft‘s Official Website.

The website announced the countdown to the film’s release date, being only 1053 days away or more accurately, March 4th 2022. The film’s plot centers around a teenage girl trying to save her blocky Overworld from a creature known as Ender Dragon. No other major information has been stated regarding the film, however the team behind Minecraft expressed much excitement for the upcoming feature film. They expressed that the film is definitely catered for fans as in the article they said, “We want to make the movie — just as we make the game — for you.” Minecraft might seem like an odd film concept on the surface, but with creators trying to please both the most die-hard of fans and casual viewers, it should be a satisfying experience for anyone interested in or deeply invested in the Minecraft world.

Minecraft is set to release on March 4th 2022. More details can be found on the Minecraft Website.

Ryan Pineda: When it comes to film, animation, video games and other mediums, I can discuss for hours about how much on why certain films and animated media made me the person I am today. I adore the artistic merit that comes from a lot of pop-culture media and will definitely love to have a conversation about favorite movies any day! I have graduated in 2017 with a BA in Film and Television at the University of Arizona. Been passionate about writing about films due to always having an interesting outlook on the medium. Will always see a film and will definitely be sure to recommend it to someone that I know for a fact would love that movie. Not only that but will also give reasons for why I think that film did or did not work as a movie, and the same can go for other pieces of media like television, video games and especially animated projects.
