The release date for Legally Blonde 3 was reportedly pushed back to May of 2022. In the meantime Mindy Kaling, who is writing the movie, has revealed some new details about Legally Blonde 3 in an interview. Movie Web reports that the movie will be about exploring the life of the Legally Blonde protagonist, Elle Woods, while she is in her 40’s. Specifically the movie will making comparisons between Elle’s life as 40 year old woman and her life as a 21 year old student. Dan Goor, who produces the popular police sitcom Brooklyn 99, is working with Kaling on writing the script for Legally Blonde 3.
Kaling also promised that this movie will have plenty of references to the previous movies including the return of the famous “Bend and Snap” movie. The Bend and Snap move was featured in a popular scene in the first movie, in which Elle teaches her friend Paulette the move in order to attract the attention of the hot delivery man. Then in the musical adaptation of Legally Blonde an entire song is dedicated to the move, and also the use of the move leads into the musical’s most popular song “There! Right There!”
Reese Witherspoon will be returning to the role of Elle Woods.
