Milo Manheim Opens About His Feeling Of Being Cast In The Live Action ‘Tangled’: “I Can Only Be True To Myself And Try To Embody The Spirit Of The Cartoon”

Milo Manheim in 'School Spirits' Official Trailer

Milo Manheim, or should I say Eugene Fitzherbert, opens up about his feelings towards being cast in the live-action Tangled.
In this live-action adaptation of the 2010 Disney animated classic, the fairytale of Princess Rapunzel, who will be played by Titans star Teagan Croft, with Manheim set to portray her love interest, Flynn Rider. For right now, those two are the only confirmed castings, but there are rumors that Kathryn Hahn is in talks to play the antagonistic Mother Gothel.
Manheim spoke about his mix of nerves and excitement about the casting with Entertainment Tonight while promoting the new season of his series School Spirits, saying,
Well, I’m nervous about a lot of things. I’m not going to lie to you. I really respect Flynn and this movie. It’s one of my favorites. I’m just kind of nervous because I know that everybody loves Flynn, and I’m trying to do my best on satisfying what you know people are expecting. But in another way, I mean, I can only be true to myself and try to embody the spirit of the cartoon. But I’m also nervous for like literally riding horses and jumping on roofs and like, I am so much less athletic than Disney thinks I am.
While the Dancing with the Stars runner-up pokes fun at his athleticism, he doesn’t forget to express his excitement for shooting, even giving a production location, and his new costar, Manheim, adds,
Also excited! I don’t even want to say nervous. I think we’re shooting in like, Spain, so I can’t wait to go explore the world. And my co-star Tegan Croft is fantastic! She’s so fun. Bundle of sunshine.
Manheim also shared the moment he most looks forward to recreating in the live-action, describing the musical number of ‘I’ve Got a Dream’ as he “can’t wait for all the burly men to be singing about their dreams.”
Filming for Tangled is set to begin in June, with confirmation that Spain and the United Kingdom will be among the shooting locations. The Greatest Showman’s Michael Gracey will direct from a screenplay by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. No release date has been set, but rumors speculate on a 2027 release; however, Disney has not confirmed this yet.
Mallery McKay: I am a graduate student, focusing on writing for and about films. I have a passion for films and the news surrounding them, so I always try and keep up to date with the latest news.
