The Resident Evil franchise is huge in film and gaming alike. The franchise started in 1996 with the original Resident Evil video game. The franchise has 30 games to its name to date, including remakes and spinoffs. In addition, it boasts eight different films, and the most recent film installment has been announced. This reboot will be directed by Zach Creggar (Barbarian), and some interesting rumors have been developing about its casting.
Mikey Madison, fresh off her Oscar win, is rumored to have been offered the lead role in this new film. Madison won an Oscar for her performance in Anora, and she is also no stranger to the horror genre, appearing in 2022’s Scream.
If Madison were to accept this role, she would star opposite of the already cast Austin Abrams, known for his roles in Euphoria and The Walking Dead.
Needless to say, it would be amazing to see these two wonderful actors share the screen in a franchise as beloved and time-tested as Resident Evil, and with a director like Zach Creggar, audiences should be on the edge of their seats in anticipation of this film.
