The upcoming fantasy/thriller flick Reptilia has started to round out its cast. Mikey Madison and Kirsten Dunst are now confirmed to be headlining the new film. Reptilia chronicles a quite unusual love story of a man and a mermaid. Their romance is rife with turmoil, though, as he gets wrapped up in the exocit animal trade, with his newfound love causing him to be thrust headfirst into the illegal world.
Alejandro Landes is picking up triple duty with this film, serving as co-writer, producer, and director. He’s done all three before on a previous film, Monos, while having other directorial credits such as Porfirio and Cocalero.
Dunst and Madison are currently the only cast members confirmed to be attached to Reptilia. Between the two of them, however, both boast massive résumés to their names.
Dunst has starred in a multitude of movies since she got her start, with roles in Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, The Virgin Suicides, and, more recently, Civil War. Some of her most recognizable work includes her part as Mary Jane Watson in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy, and even starring alongside Robin Williams in the 1995 film Jumanji.
Madison, on the other hand, had a much more recent rise to fame. She’s dipped her feet into the iconic slasher franchise Scream, and even got to work with Quentin Tarantino in his latest feature Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood.
Hollywood Reporter notes, as well, that Madison’s most recent crowning achievement is that of her work as the titular character in Anora. On top of being one of the most acclaimed films of 2024, Anora went on to win a plethora of awards, landing Madison a BAFTA award as well as the Oscar for Best Actress.
