Avengers: The Kang Dynasty has picked up Michael Waldron as the film’s new writer. Waldron was already in line to write the follow-up, Avengers: Secret Wars, and created the Loki Disney+ series.
Similarly to how Infinity War and Endgame connected almost seamlessly, Variety points out that Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars will likely follow a similar pattern.
Secret Wars is set to cap off the current era of the MCU, dubbed the Multiverse Saga.
On top of serving as the showrunner for Loki, which just saw its second season release, Waldron also wrote Doctor Strange In The Multiverse, released in 2022.
The current state of Kang Dynasty has left many scratching their heads. Shang Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton was attached but departed the project. The questions of the titular character resulted from charges of domestic abuse brought against Kang’s actor, Johnathan Majors.
Majors has already portrayed the villain in Loki and Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania, with him serving as the actor for the character’s other variants in the latter. But, as stated, the fate of Kang The Conqueror is yet to be seen, with Majors currently awaiting trial for the charges.
Kang Dynasty is slated for release on May 1st, 2026, followed by Secret Wars on May 7th, 2027. The only MCU film slated for next year is Deadpool 3.
