Michael Polish’s historical drama American Traitor: The Trial of Axis Sally has an official release date in a vertical-Redbox deal. The film starring Al Pacino and Meadow Williams now has a day-and-date theatrical and digital release date of May 28th, according to an announcement from Deadline.
American Traitor: The Trial of Axis Sally will tell the story of Mildred Gillars, the American woman who who was charged with treason for broadcasting Nazi propaganda to U.S. troops during World War II. Williams stars as Gillars and Pacino will portray Gillar’s lawyer James Laughlin. Alongside Pacino and Williams, the film will also star Swen Temmell, Mitch Pileggi, Thomas Kretschmann and Lala Kent.
The drama is based on William and Vance Owen’s book Axis Sally Confidential, which was adapted by Vance Owen, Darryl Hicks and Polish. The plot focuses on Gillars’ and Laughlin’s efforts to fix her reputation in the post-war trial because Gillars became known as “Axis Sally” and was captured in Berlin, uncovering the darkness of the Third Reich’s propaganda.

Randall Emmett, George Furla, Vance Owen, Shaun Sanghani and Luillo Ruiz are producers of the film from Diamond Film Productions, Emmet/Furla/Oasis Films and The Pimienta Film Co. in association with R.U. Robot, SSS Entertainment and River Bay Films.
