With the new Beetlejuice film months away, Michael Keaton, who plays the miscreant of the same name, talked about how he caught a version of the film and wants to see it again after a few edits. This reveal was during his conversation on The Jess Cagle Show on Sirius XM Radio.
Keaton also talked about how he was interested in making a sequel a long time ago, but, since there wasn’t any interest at the time, the idea and his ambition soon faded away. But interest would come back after conversations with Tim Burton, who directed the original Beetlejuice, on how a sequel would work.
He also spoke about his experience with getting back into character and how there was a lot more stress in filming this sequel.
In the original film, Keaton said the actors had more rein to do what they wanted and see what worked. But when working on the new film, there was pressure to replicate what the team did in the original film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, this isn’t the first time that Keaton has talked about the sequel film this year. In January, Keaton talked to People Magazine about the film’s special effects. He and Burton agreed that they didn’t want to rely on technology too much and wanted it to have that handmade effects feeling.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is set to star returning cast members Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O’Hara and will also star Jenna Ortega (Wednesday), Monica Bellucci (Spectre), Willem Dafoe (Poor Things), Justin Theroux (White House Plumbers), Arthur Conti (House of the Dragon) and Burn Gorman (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes).
The film is set to release in theaters on September 6.
