Arrested Development’s Michael Cera will be starring in Michael Angarano’s road trip film Sacramento. Angarano will also be starring in the film alongside Cera, as well as Maya Erskine. According to Deadline, the film tells the story of a young man named Rickey who goes on a roadtrip to Sacramento, California after begging his best friend Glenn, who is settled in domestic life to go along with him, which brings “…their past into question and their future into light”. It is unsure who will portray which character. Angarano co-wrote the film with Chris Smith, and the film will be produced by Angarano, Smith, and Sam Grey with Oakhurst Entertainment and Lighthouse Management & Media.
Michael Cera is best known for his roles in films such as Superbad, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World, and Juno, and his next role will be in the animated adventure film Blazing Samurai. Angarano started in Disney, starring in the superhero action film Sky High. He was also in Kyle Patrick Alvarez’s 2015 film The Stanford Prison Experiment, and recieved his first Emmy award for his role in the 4th season of This Is Us. Erskine received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for her show PEN-15, and was recently in the Scooby Do film Scoob!. Sacramento is due to begin shooting in early 2021.
