Michael B Jordan is quickly becoming one of the most talked about actors of the current decade, starring in one of the best boxing films of all time Creed and the tragic but true story Fruitvale Station. He has recently began trying out some of the other roles in the filmmaking process, including producing, and is now taking on his first directing gig. Jordan will officially direct The Stars Beneath Our Feet, a coming-of-age story for a young 12 year old boy, according to Deadline.
The Stars Beneath Our Feet is based on a book by David Barclay Moore of the same name that focuses on the story of Lolly Rachpaul, who lives with his mother and her girlfriend in Harlem. After the devastating loss of Lolly’s brother to a gang-related incident, Lolly begins to think about the “inevitability” of joining a gang, but Lolly’s mother’s girlfriend brings him something unexpected: two large bags filled with a ton of Legos. Lolly very much appreciates the gesture and absolutely loves Legos and following the instructions to completion, but the lack of instructions forces him to forge his own path, which coincides with his real life.
No other details have been released about the film, but we are extremely excited to see who will be cast and to see how Jordan’s first foray into directing will play out.
