Mia Goth is set to play the villain opposite Ryan Gosling in Star Wars: Starfighter, the latest Star Wars feature helmed by Shawn Levy.
Gosling is the lead for the new feature film, which is expected to begin production this fall in England. It is scheduled to open on May 28, 2027. There are few details about the project, but what is known so far is that Gosling is playing a character who has to protect a young charge against evil pursuers.
Goth will portray one of the pursuers. This is the same role Mikey Madison was rumored to play, but the deal ended up being a no-go, as a result of money issues. Lucasfilm had no comment. Starfighter is a standalone story that is not connected to the so-called Skywalker Saga. The events of the film take place roughly five years after the events of 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
“This is a stand-alone. It’s not a prequel, not a sequel. It’s a new adventure. It’s set in a period of time that we haven’t seen explored yet,” Levy said at April’s Star Wars Celebration in Japan.
Goth gained popularity by starring in Ti West’s horror trilogy, including X, Pearl, and MaXXXine. Goth can be seen next in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein, alongside Oscar Isaac and Jacob Elordi. She is also slated to portray a mystery role in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.
