Director Paul Feig’s (Bridesmaids, The Heat) latest comedy, Spy, sees Melissa McCarthy as a talented but bored CIA analyst who is given the chance to go into the field after her partner goes missing, bringing her deep into the world of a deadly arms dealer.
The film also stars Jude Law (Cold Mountain), McCarthy’s Bridesmaids co-star Rose Byrne, as well as veteran action star Jason Statham (The Transporter).
This will be the third collaboration between Feig and McCarthy, with a possible fourth on the horizon if her casting in Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot becomes official. Feig, undoubtedly with some help from McCarthy, has clearly hit a sweet spot in the female-led comedy world. McCarthy will next lend her voice to DreamWorks Animations new animated comedy B.O.O.(Bureau of Otherworldly Operations), as well as in her husband Ben Falcone’s Michelle Darnell.
See the first official trailer for Spy below, where McCarthy teams up with the likes of Statham to prevent an impending global disaster.
