The action comedy Last Looks starring Charlie Hunnam and Mel Gibson finally has an official release date in February. Directed by Tim Kirkby, the film was originally titled, Waldo. It will feature Morena Baccarin, Rupert Friend, Dominic Monaghan, Lucy Fry, and legendary Wu-Tang Clan rapper Cliff “Method Mad” Smith.
Adapted from Howard Michael Gould’s best-seller novels, the film is called after the first episode of the three-book series. Charlie Hunnam will be interpreting the main character Waldo who used to be a big shot at the LAPD but now leads a life of solitude and minimalism out in the woods and away from the noise of the city. On the other hand, Mel Gibson will be the eccentric TV show actor Alistair Pinch who spends his days having one too many drinks on set. The plot uncurls when Pinch’s wife is found dead, and he is the main suspect. Waldo decides to withdraw from his self-imposed retirement plan to investigate the murder. It will lead him down a path full of Hollywood executives, gangsters, and a peculiar preschool teacher that will help him get to the bottom of things and find out if Alistar Pinch is guilty or not.
RLJE Films acquired North American rights to the movie and will be releasing it in February. Chief Acquisition officer Mark Ward negotiated the deal with Romulus Feinstein on behalf of the filmmakers. Mr. Ward stated to Deadline, “We’re delighted to release Last Looks next year. We cannot wait to work with the film’s amazing cast who will take audiences through this unique ‘whodunit’ adventure.”
