The Danish Girl star, Matthias Schoenaerts is teaming up with Mudbound‘s Garrett Hedlund and Gone Girl‘s Scoot McNairy in an all new mob thriller, The Sound of Philadelphia. The news comes out of the latest film announcements at Cannes.
The American Crime story, based on an adaptation of Pete Dexter’s book, Brotherly Love, follows the events of a young girl who is killed by a reckless driver, after which her family seeks revenge. Now decades later, her brother (Schoenaerts) is still grief stricken by her death as he seeks his cousin’s (Hedlund) help, who is busy developing a powerful hierarchy for the family crime business.
The film is being directed by Jeremie Guez, who made his directorial debut for the world premiere of A Bluebird in my Heart at SXSW. Thus far, filming is set to begin in August in Philadelphia. The film is set to launch at the Cannes Festival by Protagonist Films, who is shopping the film to buyers. Endeavor Content so far has the North American distribution rights.
