The Fantastic Four are taking their first steps into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As the release of Matt Shakman’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps draws closer, more details are being divulged as to the nature of the story. Fantastic Four: First Steps brings Marvel’s First Family back to the big screen, and into the MCU for the first time. The film finds the team already with their tremendous powers, but they’re still unclear how to navigate having their new talents. But they’re forced to learn fast when Galactus, a planet-eating cosmic being, sets his sights on Earth, with only the Fantastic Four standing in his way.
Ahead of the films debut, Screenrant reports that Shakman has confirmed that there are no other heroes than the actual Fantastic Four that exist within the 1960s setting of the story.
Shakman said that, while speaking to Empire, it is its own universe. “There’s no Easter eggs. There’s no running into Iron Man or whatever. They’re it, in this universe.”
He would go on to say that this film, standing on its own, is “so new and so different,” being disconnected from the rest of the MCU events up to this point.
Fantastic Four: First Steps hits theaters July 25th.
