Warner Bros. and DC Studios have released the official trailer for Clayface, the next film in the DCU. The film follows Matt Hagen, an up and coming actor in Gotham City when he is attacked by a local crime boss, leaving his face horribly scarred. The disfigurement ruins his career, so he seeks out experimental treatment to restore his face. The treatment works, but the unexpected consequences that follow cause his life to spin out of control.
The trailer shows part of Matt’s attack, and the resulting disfigurement that prompts him to undergo a risky procedure. In the trailer, the doctor says, “This isn’t cosmetic surgery.” Matt responds by saying, “Even if it kills me, I’ll be better off than I am now.”
The film stars Tom Rhys Harries as Matt Hagen, with Naomi Ackie, David Dencik, Max Minghella, Eddie Marsan, Nancy Carroll and Joshua James filling out the supporting cast. It is directed by James Watkins (Speak No Evil) and was written by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini. Matt Reeves, Lynn Harris, James Gunn and Peter Safran serve as producers on the film. Clayface is the next film in the DCU, but make no mistake, it will be much different than Superman or Supergirl. The film is an R-rated horror thriller, hoping to pull in a whole different crowd from the other DCU films. Clayface hits theaters on October 23.
