Matt Berry In Talks To Join Warner Bros’ ‘Minecraft’

Matt Berry is in talks about joining the cast of the live-action version of Minecraft, along with Jason Momoa who was previously cast a role. Berry is known for his BAFTA and Critics Choice Award-nominated role as a vampire, Laszlo Cravensworth on FX’s show What We Do in the Shadows. The hit comedy show is renewed for a fifth season on July 13. Berry is also a part of an upcoming stop-motion animated film, The Inventor. Deadline shares that any details on Minecraft and Berry’s role have been kept under wraps, but there are live-action pictures that mirror the Mojang sandbox video game. The popular video game Minecraft was released in 2011 and became a global sensation, acquiring Mojang $2.5 billion.

The movie is directed by Jared Hess, known for his film Napoleon Dynamite. The producers on the project include Roy Lee, Jon Berg, Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Jason Momoa, Torfi Frans Olafsson, Vu Bui, and the late Jill Messick. With executive producers Todd Hallowell, Kyleen Walters, Brian Mendoza, and Jonathan Spaihts. The film Minecraft is scheduled to be released on April 4, 2025.
