According to ComicBook Movies, Marvel’s Eternals will not have a simultaneous release in theaters and on Disney+ Premier Access. This is the second movie from Marvel Studios to show only in theaters after Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The box office performance of its September release ultimately steered the direction of whether Eternals would receive simultaneous streaming on the same day it premieres in theaters on November 5.
Former Hollywood Reporter editor Matthew Belloni also indicates that Chapek and Disney’s distribution chief Kareem Daniels have concluded that Eternals will receive an exclusive theatrical run. The decision happened after Shang-Chi earned $75.3 million in three days after ending Labor Day weekend with a record-breaking $94.6 million without Premier Access.
ComicBook Movies quotes Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige, who says “I think a theater would be my preference and [Eternals director] Chloe [Zhao’s] preference. We will see where we go with it.”
