Marvel’s First Family is getting ready to take their first steps in the MCU. A brand new trailer for Fantastic Four: First Steps has been released, giving fans a whole new look at the story.
Directed by Matt Shakman, First Steps is the newest time that the team has been brought to the big screen. First done in 1994 from a Roger Corman production, there was also an adaptation in 2005, followed by a sequel in 2007.
This time around, the cast is led by Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, alongside Ralph Ineson, Julia Garner, and John Malkovich.
Before this trailer, audiences got a general sense of where the team was at this point in their life. Already having ventured on their fateful voyage, the four heroes, known now as Mr. Fantastic, the Invisible Woman, the Human Torch, and The Thing, all have to balance out their newfound powers while keeping a sense of normalcy in their lives.
With the new footage shown off, comic fans are given their first look at several ascents torn right from the comics. Among these are Shalla-Bal, a comic counterpart to Norrin Radd, otherwise known as Silver Surfer. Rather than utilizing Radd, Shalla-Bal is the choice for First Steps, serving as the herald of Galactus, the planet eating cosmic terror.
However, while a glimpse of the shadow of Galactus was shown in the first teaser, there was no new sight of him in the new trailer.
Also revealed to audiences are the surprise that Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman are soon to become proud parents. While never adapted before, the two have had children in the comics before, in the form of Franklin and Valeria Richards. While it’s still unknown just what role they will play in the film, fans will be able to make the connection from the children to the title for the film.
Fantastic Four: First Steps hits theaters July 25th. Check out the trailer below.
