Dave Bushore, a 15-year Marvel executive, is bidding a grand farewell to the company. He joined in 2009, shortly after The Incredible Hulk was released. He worked as a coordinator for Brad Winderbaum, now Marvel’s Head of Streaming, Television and Animation.
As the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) grew, so did Bushore’s career within the company. Working on project after project, Bushore certainly immersed himself in the MCU. He most recently served as Marvel’s Vice President of Franchise Creative and Immersive Development—a tough but rewarding job.
One of Bushore’s most significant contributions was directing What If …? — An Immersive Story, a collaboration between Marvel and ILM for Apple Vision Pro. The project earned a Creative Arts Emmy last weekend for Outstanding Innovation in Emerging Programming. It even made history as Marvel’s first-ever project to debut at the Venice Film Festival. Ultimately, it was one of 10 immersive experiences selected globally for the “Best of Experiences” Immersive section. Fans all over the world loved this work, and it showed. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bushore described the Venice experience as “mind-blowing.”
So, the question we are all left with is: Why has Bushore decided to leave the MCU?
Despite his success, Bushore revealed that he no longer wishes to invest his work and energy in this particular direction. He shared that, while proud of his work, he’s choosing to explore new projects within technology and audience engagement with different brands. This is definitely an ambiguous yet promising answer!
We wish him all the best in his future projects and look forward to experiencing them!
