‘Marshall’ Trailer Shows Us The Rise Of The First African-American Supreme Court Justice

Thurgood Marshall, one of the greatest lawyers in American history that won the Brown v. Board of Education case and became the first African-American Supreme Court Justice, has a film in the works focusing on his rise as a lawyer. The second trailer has released, giving us an inside look at what Marshall was like as a young attorney.

Marshall looks to focus specifically on one case that Thurgood Marshall completed during the beginning of his career that featured an African-American man who had been accused of “attacking” a white woman. Marshall’s main goal is to prove that the verdict is only being made because of his race, not because of his supposed crime which may have never happened. The film also focuses on the difficulties of the relationships made between him and others, with his assistant being white and being seen as a “traitor.”

Thurgood Marshall is being played by Chadwick Boseman (Captain America: Civil War, Get On Up). He has solid supporting cast including Josh Gad (Beauty and the Beast 2017, Frozen),  Dan Stevens (Beauty and the Beast 2017, Downtown Abbey), Kate Hudson (Almost Famous, Bride Wars), and Sterling K. Brown (This Is Us, American Crime Story). Marshall will be released on October 13th, and we are very excited to see the Black Panther star play the honest, powerful lawyer.
