Funnyman Marlon Wayans, known for Scary Movie and being a part of the Wayans Brothers, is making his way back to making what he does best: hilariously frightening films. Deadline is reporting that Wayans is slated to star and produce an untitled Halloween comedy film for Netflix and that Jeff Wadlow will direct.
Wadlow is known for directing films like Truth or Dare, Fantasy Island, and Cry Wolf. Rob Rugan (Alice Misadventures in Wonderland), Todd Berger (The Happytime Murders), John R. Morey (George Lopez) are collaborating to write the script.
The plot revolves around a young girl who, after unintentionally unleashing an old and mischievous spirit on Halloween, which causes decorations to come alive and wreak havoc, is forced to work with the last person she wants to in order to rescue their town – her dubious father (Wayans).
Wayans previously acted and produced the Netflix 2019 comedy Sextuplets, in which he portrays all six main roles. Fans of the comedic legend can see him as Ted White in the Aretha Franklin biopic Respect that stars Forest Whitaker, Audra McDonald, Tituss Burgess, and Jennifer Hudson as Aretha Franklin, now playing in theaters.
Wadlow previously worked with Netflix as well on the True Memoirs of an International Assassin that he directed, and it starred Kevin James.
