

Mark Hamill, known for his iconic role as Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise and his voiceover work, particularly his recurring role as the Joker in multiple animated Batman and DC Comics shows and movies, is set to be honored at CinemaCon 2025. Hamill will receive the Cinema Icon award at CinemCon’s Big Screen Achievement Awards. The ceremony will be held Thursday evening inside the Colleseum at Caeser’s Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada, as part of CinemaCon 2025.
“Mark Hamill’s career is proof that great characters don’t just live on the screen – they live within us, galvanizing generations of audiences worldwide,” says CinemaCon managing director Mitch Neuhauser in a statement about Hamill’s award. “This Cinema Icon Award honors not just an actor but a legacy of incredible work that extends beyond the screen and continues to inspire us all.”
The award comes at a busy year for Mark Hamill, as he has multiple films set to be released this year. Firstly, Hamill will play the father of Tom Hiddleston’s titular character in Mike Flanagan’s Stephen King adaptation, The Life of Chuck, which will be released in theaters by Neon on June 6th. Hamill will also appear in another Stephen King adaptation, Francis Lawrence’s adaptation of The Long Walk, set to be released by Lionsgate on September 12th. Lastly, Hamill will voice the Flying Dutchman in the animated Spongebob Squarepants movie, The SpongeBob Movie: Search for Squarepants, which Paramount is set to release on December 19th.
