Marisa Tomei has taken a detour from Marvel and is set to join the cast of a Jason Momoa and Isabela Merced-led Netflix vehicle titled Sweet Girl, according to Deadline. The Spider-Man actress will be enlisted in a cast consisting of Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Raza Jaffrey, Adria Arjona, Justin Bartha, Lex Scott Davis, Michael Raymond-James, Dominic Fumusa, Brian Howe, Nelson Franklin, and Reggie Lee.
Sweet Girl will be directed by Andrew Mendoza is centered around a desperate husband who takes a code to bring justice to the ones were responsible for his wife’s death, while trying to protect his daughter. The screenplay is compiled from a writing team consisting of ASAP Entertainment’s Gregg Hurwitz, Philip Eisner, and Will Staples. Brad Peyton and Jeff Fierson. It will also feature production from Mendoza, Martin, Momoa, and Kistler.
Aside from her appearances in the third iteration of the Spider-Man franchise, Tomei recently appeared in ABC’s Live In Front Of A Studio Audience ‘All in the Family’ and ‘Good Times and experienced a Broadway stint in the Roundabout Theatre Company’s The Rose Tattoo. Tomei also wrapped up all her scenes on the production of an untitled Judd Apatow film starring Pete Davidson.
Her role in Sweet Girl is currently unspecified.
