Margot Robbie has been on a tear recently, rising to stardom through a variety of bombastic roles, including the new face of Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad. Robbie will continue along this trend of quirky and entertaining roles with I, Tonya, which just released a new trailer:
I, Tonya will retell the story of Tonya Harding, the now infamous former figure skater who was among the best in the United States alongside Nancy Kerrigan. It later became known that Harding’s husband and bodyguard sabotaged Kerrigan by attacking her in an attempt to end her career or prevent her from competing in a tournament. Harding was then banned for life from basically any kind of figure skating events after pleading guilty to hindrance of prosecution for her husband and her former bodyguard.
Robbie will be starring alongside a strong cast including Sebastian Stan (Captain America: The Winter Soldier, The Martian), Allison Janney (Juno, Finding Nemo), Caitlin Carver (Rules Don’t Apply, Paper Towns), Bobby Cannavale (Ant-Man, Chef), and Julianne Nicholson (Black Mass, August: Osage County). The film is being directed by Craig Gillespie (Million Dollar Arm, The Finest Hours) with a script from Steven Rogers (P.S. I Love You, Love the Coopers). The film will be released on December 8th, 2017.
