Margot Robbie and ‘Birds Of Prey’ Writer Christina Hodson To Partner On New ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean’ Movie

Margot Robbie and her Birds Of Prey writer Christina Hodson are both in early talks to work together in the upcoming new, female-driven Pirates of the Caribbean for Disney.

If the deal makes it, that means Hodson would be penning the script, with Robbie to star.

This project would be a stand-alone film in the beloved Pirates franchise rather than as a sequel or spin-off. That means this film would be separate from the already announced Pirates reboot that emerged last fall with Pirates franchise scribe Ted Elliott, who wrote the first four films, and Emmy-winning Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin. This reboot is currently in the works.

Longtime Pirates producer Jerry Bruckheimer is attached to produce both the Elliott/Mazin project and this new Robbie/Hodson project.

Plot details remain ambiguous. However, because this project will not be a spin-off, it will no longer center pirate Jack Sparrow, but instead create a completely different, original story with new characters.

The Pirates franchise has grossed more than $4.5 billion worldwide.

The duo of Hodson and Robbie would be reuniting after Birds of Prey, a spinoff of Warner Bros and DC’s Suicide Squad franchise. The Harley Quinn female-driven action film has grossed $201.9 million worldwide since its February 7, 2020 debut.
