The upcoming indie dark comedy and supernatural romance Thud has officially rounded out its ensemble cast with the addition of six new cast members. Joining the feature are Lauren Holt (Saturday Night Live), Anna Akana (Go Back to China), Kevin Bigley (Upload), Brian McElhaney (The Amazing Spider-Man 2), Brandon Scott (Off Campus), and Vincent Rodriguez III (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend).
Directed by Mali Elfman (Next Exit) from an original screenplay by Noga Pnueli (Meet Cute), Thud follows the Grim Reaper and the Devil as they navigate a three-day destination wedding, causing chaos while unexpectedly falling in love. Sarah Michelle Gellar (Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) stars as the Grim Reaper, alongside Rudy Pankow (Outer Banks) as the Devil. The supporting ensemble also features Piper Curda, Sujata Day, Sterling Sulieman, Steve Agee, Karan Soni, Dot-Marie Jones, and Katie Parker. Principal photography on the feature was recently concluded in Los Angeles with support from the California Film Commission’s tax credit program.
Producers attached to Thud include Derek Bishé and David Grove Churchill Viste. The executive producing slate features Lindsay Helms and Joel Nevells for Helmstreet Productions, Greg Gilreath and Adam Hendricks for Divide/Conquer, Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin for Radio Silence, Dan Lawler, and screenwriter Noga Pnueli. Representation for the newly announced cast includes CAA and Entertainment 360 for Holt; CAA, Principal Entertainment, and Jeff Hynick for Akana; CESD and Untitled for Bigley; UTA and Brillstein Entertainment Partners for McElhaney; Sweeney Entertainment, Innovative Artists, and Felker Toczek Suddleson for Scott; and Chris Lee alongside Don Michael Mendoza for Rodriguez III.
Studio distribution partners and an official release date for Thud have not yet been announced.
