There is currently a fifth addition in the works to the famed Indiana Jones franchise. Most importantly, it will not be directed by Steven Spielberg.
The director filling in the big shoes will be James Mangold, whose previous work includes films such as Ford v. Ferrari and Logan. One of the film stars, Mads Mikkelsen, has attested to Mangold’s skill, “It felt like a Spielberg film, though it’s obviously James making it with the same vision.” Mikkelsen spills that the new addition will be going back to that 1940s golden age of film aesthetic and bringing the franchise back to its roots.
Previously when the film was announced fans were worried that longtime star Harrison Ford would not be able to keep up while participating in such a demanding action film, as Ford is 79 years old. Mikkelsen puts all such concerns to rest when telling a story about Ford, how after a 5 am wrap time the Star Wars actor proceeded to get on a mountain bike and go for a 50 km ride, “Harrison is a monster of a man, a very nice monster.”
Indiana Jones 5 is anticipated to come out in theaters on June 30th, 2023.
