Madonna Teases Resurrected Biopic, New Title ‘Who’s That Girl’

According to a recent Instagram post on July 16, Madonna is back working on her biopic, and she titled it Who’s That Girl. In the post, Madonna is seen alongside her typewriter working on a movie script in a series of photos. The title of the previous script is crossed out and in red capital letters, it reads the current title. The post is captioned “I Need A-lot of Bandz to make this………..OKAY. (Story of my life).”

A year and a half ago, it was announced by Universal Pictures that the Madonna biopic would be permanently paused.  Madonna was set to direct the project with the script written by her, Diablo Cody, and Erin Cressida Wilson. Julia Garner was going to star in the leading role as Madonna, and Entertainment Weekly reports that Garner will still star in the revamped project. In the Instagram post, the script is stated to be “Rewritten by Madonna and ECW.”

Madonna, born Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone, has been an icon since the 1980s, releasing various hits such as “Material Girl,” “Like A Prayer,” and “Like A Virgin,” and becoming a fashion icon for the decade. Her debut single, “Everybody,” was released in 1942 at the age of 24 and her debut album Sire was put out the following year. This album peaked at no. 8 on the Billboard 100 chart and started her rise to fame.

Madonna also has a history with the film industry as she has starred in over 100 projects including A League of Their Own (1992), Dick Tracy (1990), and Desperately Seeking Susan (1985)

It is not yet announced when the film will start production.
