Warner Bros. Pictures has scheduled M. Night Shyamalan’s romantic drama Remain for a nationwide theatrical release on February 5, 2027, moving the feature from its previously targeted October 2026 launch window. The film stars Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal and Bridgerton breakout Phoebe Dynevor. The supporting ensemble includes Ashley Walters, Julie Hagerty, Jay O. Sanders, Tracy Ifeachor, Hannah James, Caleb Ruminer, Kieran Mulcare, and Maria Dizzia. The production stems from a unique creative collaboration between Shyamalan and bestselling author Nicholas Sparks: working from the same underlying love story concept, Shyamalan independently penned the screenplay while Sparks authored a companion novel of the same name.
Warner Bros. selected the early February date to capitalize on the lucrative Valentine’s Day box-office corridor, a calendar strategy reinforced by robust advance ticket tracking for its upcoming adaptation of Wuthering Heights. Insiders report that Remain achieved the highest test-screening scores of Shyamalan’s directorial career, surpassing benchmarks set by earlier hits such as The Sixth Sense, Signs, and Unbreakable. Opening against Universal’s untitled Judd Apatow comedy starring Glen Powell and Disney’s animated sequel Ice Age: Boiling Point, Remain will serve as counterprogramming aimed at adult drama and romance demographics ahead of the mid-February holiday corridor. Shyamalan produces the project alongside Ashwin Rajan via Blinding Edge Pictures, together with Marc Bienstock and Sparks’ producing partner Theresa Park. Sparks serves as executive producer.
