The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry, based on Gabrielle Zevin’s New York Times best-selling novel, is becoming a movie with a crazy good acting cast attached to the adaptation. It has been reported that Lucy Hale (Pretty Little Liars), Christina Hendricks (Good Girls), and Kunal Nayyar (Big Bang Theory) will star with Hans Canosa (Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac) directing the adaptation.
The story follows A.J. Fikry (Nayyar), whose life is not what he imagined it to be. His wife has died, his bookstore is having its worst year ever, and his greatest treasure, a rare collection of Poe poems, has been stolen. He’s given up on people, and even the books in his store serve as a warning that the world is changing at an alarming rate. However, when a strange box comes to the store, Fikry is given the opportunity to restart his life and see things from a different perspective.
David Garrett of Mister Smith Entertainment said: “The reason this is such a wonderful story with such great characters, is that the script is hewn form the most wonderful source material. It shines light on those connections which are at the heart of all human relationships in such a joyous and life-affirming fashion.”
Nayyar is currently filming the Apple TV+ series Suspicion with Uma Thurman.
Hale is set to star in the adaptation of The Hating Game, a novel by Sally Thorne.
Hendricks can be seen on the hit TV series Good Girls on NBC.
