Britt Robertson (2015’s Tomorrowland) and Scott Eastwood (Fury) star in the latest Nicholas Sparks adaptation The Longest Ride. It’s the story young couple whose relationship intertwines with much older man (Alan Alda) as he reflects back on his former love after a car accident – plus bull riding and war. Although the film’s marketing campaign thus far has been a bit confusing – is it about animal-like attraction, or women waiting for men to return from life-threatening pursuits, or something else entirely? – the trailer makes one thing clear: The Longest Ride is banking on its ability to titillate the audience; much like the trailers for Fifty Shades of Grey. Directed by George Tillman Jr. (Men of Honor) for Twentieth Century Fox, the romance will be released on April 10. It also stars Jack Huston (American Hustle), Oona Chaplin (Quantum of Solace), and Melissa Benoist (Whiplash).
